Raven Stead I have fallen in love with this release. Superb guitar work that draws you into the rich dark atmosphere created by the music. Harsh emotive vocals that never become weak are braided perfectly with some clean vox. The melodies are dark and repetitive yet never become boring, instead cloaking the listener with a desire to hear more. Deserves a vinyl release. I'll be among the first in line to get whatever Vyrju offers next! Favorite track: There Is No Grave Big Enough to Take All My Sorrows.

1.
Nothing Supreme darkness Embrace my soul Lost hopes Endless pain Left to die Alone Forever gone No one to care Empty feelings Empty silence Dreams A constant void of black Trapped in an endless nightmare Nowhere to run A feeling of hopelessness A killing pain Broken memories Incomplete You break the silence You Slay the innocent man You are chaos You are lost You destroy the construction of life Lay all what’s left in ruins You invoke the tyrant The tyrant of self-destruction Falling...deeper... Falling...into black... Falling...deeper... Falling...into...black Wounded Scarred by life A broken soul Will it ever heal? I am darkness I am misery I am the thorn in your side I am your silence
2.
Oh, sweet silent death... Why have you left me alone? It all sounds like an endless noise Oh please, grant me silence Endless misery All hope is lost Empty inside No more feelings left I am nothing The way that I’ve become Oh please, give me strength To heal - to ease Broken and torn Wounded and hurt Broken and torn Left alone Oh, sweet silent death... Will you ever take me away? How can I find my peace? Let me leave this misery Is there a place Where I belong? Is there a place Where I can breathe? I finally found a way I am leaving myself
3.
Gone 01:58
4.
You walk the endless fields of repentance A thousand steps in one You harvest the forgotten times And carry the burden of your self Lost in the presence of your own emptiness Let go of your own misery You die a little day by day I will make your death come true Let me fade away And you wither...

about

This debut EP from Vyrju takes you on a doomy black metal journey into your inner darkness.

"... before "The residue of Life" ties a hangman's nose around this immensely promising EP with its depressive, yet alluring, bittersweet black metal soul..."
- Geoff Birchenall (Zero Tolerance)

"‘The Residue Of Life’ is the first taste of the EP to be revealed thus far, and it’s grand, sombre strains bode very well indeed. "
- Kez Whelan (Terrorizer)

"In a word, Black is captivating. The melodies in each of the four songs, with the exception of the short instrumental piece “Gone”, have a sombre and even depressive air, but they’re memorable and often beautiful in their own grim, ravaged way."
- No Clean Singing

"Vyrju offer windswept melodic black metal buried under new-fallen snow. Oddly catchy and prettily plaintive."
- Kim Kelly (Kerrang, Pitchfork, Terrorizer, Metalsucks etc.)
